About Us
Vietnam Veterans Of America here in Wales works so Vietnam-era veterans get recognition, benefits access, and a community that understands the road home.
Led by Director Brian W. Strickland, we focus on peer support, local outreach, and connecting members to health, education, and family resources.
History
Vietnam Veterans of America was founded in 1978 so Vietnam-era veterans would have an organization run by and for them — focused on accountability, benefits, and the unfinished business of the war years.
National VVA remains a leading voice on Agent Orange, PTSD, POW/MIA accounting, and fair treatment for those who served between the early 1960s and the mid-1970s — and for their families.

More than 2.7 million Americans served in Vietnam. Many came home to a divided country, delayed recognition, and health issues that took decades to be fully acknowledged.
Remembrance is not only Memorial Day or Veterans Day. It is standing with living veterans — listening, helping with claims, and making sure the next generation knows the cost of that service.
Our chapter serves veterans and families in and around Wales and St. Clair County. We are a local door into the wider VVA network — meetings, mutual aid, and a place to ask for help without explaining everything from scratch.
